We have a Massage Therapist at Our clinic that specalizes in Deep Tissue Therapy. Her name is Elizabeth Combs, LMT and she is also Dr. Ashworths' massage therapist because of her techniques for sports massage. Dr. Ashworth trains in Mixed Martial Arts and is an avid surfer. At 40 years old it is not hard to get hurt, but her techniques stress tissue healing as well as the stretching of connective tissue, and tissue circulation which help prevent injuries.

She has worked hard to incorporate massage with a healthy diet and exercise to help with the weight loss and weight maintenance phases of Dr. Ashworth's weight loss protocols. She is a specialist in Deep Tissue Therapy and Postural Dysfunctions through the use of trigger point and myofascial release techniques. Some of the aspects of her massage therapy regimen stress the following:

  • Improves ability for physical activity by helping to sustain endurance and shorten recovery time.
  • Reduces risk of injury by: Stretching connective tissue, improving circulation, influencing excretion of toxins; and the breakdown of scar tissue resulting from muscle tears and other common muscle injuries.
  • Increases Metabolic Rate: Maximizing the supply of nutrients and oxygen through increased blood and lymph flow. This allows muscles to burn more calories.
  • Reduces abdominal fat hormones: Reducing stress lowers the hormonal production of Cortisol. This hormone has been shown to increase appetite and cause fat deposition in the abdominal area.
  • Physical bursting of fat capsule: Vigorous massage can burst the fat capsules in subcutaneous tissue which is a perfect compliment to any bodysculpting procedure or weight loss program in general. Massage also aids in increased tonicity and skin elasticity during the weight loss process, and after the bodysculpting surgery.
  • Supports digestive functions: Gastrointestinal health is essential for weight loss.
  • Rewards dedication and hard work: Receiving regular massage is the ultimate non-food reward for dedication to body improvement.
